The most important thing

What’s the most important issue in your life? Are you most concerned about keeping your health care, Medicare, and Social Security? Are you most concerned that people of all religions and races are safe from violence? Are you most concerned about climate change?

Whatever your most important issue is, the most important thing you can do right now is to get Democrats to vote, to protect that thing, and everything you hold dear.

Direct contact with voters is the most effective tool we have to ensure Democrats vote, and the more Democrats vote, the more elections we win.

I’ll be phone banking today with Democracy Action, and I’m inviting you to join me.

It’s go time

There are only six days to go until the midterms. This week, the president’s hateful rhetoric is implicated yet again in deadly violence against innocent people. Hold the dead in your hearts. May their memories move us to acts of charity and justice.

We’ve been waiting for this moment for two long years. May we get out the vote.

Let’s leave it all on the field

We have just nine days left to turn out voters. To spread the word. To take our country back.

THINGS THAT WILL NOT HELP TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY:

  1. Trump being a bad President
  2. Republicans in Congress passing terrible policies
  3. Having more yard signs than Republicans

THINGS THAT WILL HELP TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY:

  1. Talking to voters
  2. Talking to voters again
  3. Talking to voters a third time

Hell no to the memo

If you have trans, gender nonconforming, or intersex family or friends, or even if you’re a person with an ounce of empathy and compassion, it’s been another terrible week in Trump’s America. According to a DHHS memo exposed by the New York Times, the administration seeks to define sex based on genitalia recorded at birth. There’s no science behind this. It’s just another cruel attack on people who are already marginalized and traumatized.

There’s no liberation without trans liberation. There’s no throwing anyone under the bus. The only way we get through this is together.

As for what to do about it, Chase Strangio of the ACLU offers seven action items here, including donating to organizations doing the work, having hard conversations with cis folk, and seeking out and supporting the work of trans and non-binary writers and activists.

Front and center: get out the vote.

A mere broken leg won’t slow us down

I broke my ankle a couple of weeks ago in a fall from my horse (don’t worry! My horse is fine.) I’m on crutches until at least Election Day. So much for my plans to knock on every door in Tracy, to get out the vote and flip CA-10!

But something amazing happened. My friend Jack had already offered to drive our SUSF minivan, the Beast of the Resistance, in my place. Last Saturday, nearly 200 people showed up to turn Tracy blue. Signups for this Saturday’s canvass are already off the charts.

I’ve taken a tumble, but hundreds of people have stepped up to take my place. This is how we resist Trump’s agenda. We are stronger together.

And besides, there’s nothing wrong with my typing fingers, so now I’m text-banking for Red2Blue and making an impact all over the country!

ONE THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW

You too can text for Democrats. It’s the ultimate activism for introverts! For extra credit, if you still have two good feet, pick another GOTV activity from the list below.
