So much for states’ rights. The EPA aims to roll back California’s ability to set its own emissions standards. The attorneys-general of California and the states that follow its lead have vowed to sue. A disaster for anyone who has to breathe air or live on this planet, this proposal doesn’t even make sense for auto-makers:
…a long, protracted legal battle with state attorneys general creates uncertainty and regulatory limbo—a nightmare scenario for companies that need to design and plan their fleets years in advance.
Who benefits? Oil companies. There’s nothing they won’t stoop to if it lets them cling to their dirty profits for another decade or two.
ONE THING YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
You have until October 2 to leave a comment here. Try this, in language even the industry-lobbyist-appointees to the EPA may understand:
Weakening emissions standards undermines states’ rights and harms the auto industry, which cannot plan around unpredictable agency behavior. This proposal is an inexcusable waste of taxpayer money.
